Davenport - Ida Patton

Source: Crawfordsville Weekly Journal Friday, 19 April 1895

Saturday evening, April 1, 1895, at 7:15 o’clock the summons of death came to Mrs. Ida Davenport. The deceased was a victim of that dreadful disease, consumption. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Shuey at 3 o’clock Monday afternoon, at the Mt. Pleasant Christian Church. Interment was at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Ida Patton Davenport, the eldest daughter of J. W. and Jane Patton, was born April 19, 1865, and was a member of the Christian Church and had lived a devout Christian life. In 1888 she married Harvey Davenport, he having fallen a victim to the same dreadful disease, consumption, in 1891.

Mrs. Davenport leaves a little four year old daughter and many relatives and friends to mourn her loss.
It seems as if I. W. Patton’s family is receiving a double portion of sorrow. Less than a year ago they received a terrible stroke by the death of an only son, Thomas S. Patton. The sorrowing family has the sympathy of the entire community. -s
